The teams were capable. The vision was clear. The opportunities for growth were real. Yet as firms evolved, operational complexity often outpaced the infrastructure supporting it. Over the past twenty-five years, I repeatedly found myself drawn to the same challenge. Not simply identifying opportunities for improvement but building the operational foundation that allowed firms to move forward. That meant designing workflows, implementing technology, documenting procedures, strengthening communication, creating accountability, and developing the systems that transform strategic goals into tangible progress.
Working inside advisory firms provided an invaluable perspective. Later, consulting with firms in the independent RIA space reinforced the same observation. The challenges they encountered didn’t stem from a lack of vision, talent, or commitment. They were rooted in limited capacity, unclear operational direction, and inconsistent execution. They had simply outgrown the operational infrastructure that once served them well.
